WEXFORD’s Harry Allen won last Thursday’s two-star 1.45m Table A ranking class at the Mediterranean Equestrian Tour in Oliva Nova, Spain.
Riding Dis Moi Tout de Clairbos, Allen was the fastest of nine clear rounds in the class and took victory when breaking the beam in 62.35 seconds, earning €2,500.
Sophie Dalm was also among Irish winners at the Spanish show when she guided the nine-year-old mare Katana ter Damme to win Thursday’s 1.30m speed class.
That combination went on to place third in Saturday’s 1.30m, just behind Eoin Gallagher with Bigstar Derick. Gallgher’s time of 67.59 was three hundredths of a second faster than Dalm. Victory went to Italy’s Giulia Martinengo Marquet.
Gallagher finished the week with a number of good results to him name, including third in another 1.35m class with that eight-year-old gelding.
He was also the runner-up in Friday’s 1.25m two-phase class with Elvira, which was won by Shane O’Meara aboard Belga du Thot.
In Sunday’s two-star Grand Prix, Kildare’s Niall Talbot was the best placed Irish rider when finishing sixth.
Riding Caracter, Talbot was one of 16 clears to make it through to the jump-off round and he faulted once against the clock to finish in sixth place. Victory went to Belgium’s Stijn Timmerman.
Talbot and Caracter had earlier finished thid in Friday’s 1.45m two-phase class.
