Multiple Irish wins in Belgium

KILLIAN Norris, Eoin Gallagher and David Simpson all landed victories for Ireland in Beervelde, Belgium, last weekend. The first came from Simpson in Thursday’s three-star 1.45m Accumulator class. Riding his own 14-year-old mare Fiona v/h Lemmenshof, Simpson scored the maximum 65 points in a time of 48.41 to earn €3,750.

Gallagher’s victory came on the same day in the two-star 1.40m two-phase class. He rode Oakingham Stud’s eight-year-old Diarado-sired stallion Di Caprio to victory in a time of 28.77 seconds, earning €1,500. Norris then took victory in the two-phase 1.40m on Saturday with VDB Equestrian Stables’ F - La Belle Z. He collected €1,800 after a clear round in 25.36 seconds.

Duffy placed in Samorin

MAYO’s Alex Duffy finished third in last Friday’s 1.40m jump-off class at the two-star show in Samorin, Slovakia. Riding Niall Talbot and Nicola FitzGibbons’ nine-year-old Irish Sport Horse FTS Killossery Konfusion (SIEC Livello x Cruising), bred by Frank and Laura Glynn, he produced a double clear in a time of 39.27 seconds. The combination were fourth in Sunday’s 1.45m table A with another clear round in 78.68 seconds.

Duffy also placed fourth in Saturday’s four-star 1.50m with Talbot and FitzGibbons’ 10-year-old gelding FTS Elliot.

Kerins third in Kentucky

SLIGO’s Darragh Kerins finished third in the 1.50m national Kentucky Summer Classic Grand Prix. Riding Carlos JD Z, he produced a clear round against the clock in a time of 47.81 seconds. Victory went to USA’s Brian Moggre with MTM Flutterby (0/0 44.72).

McMahon fifth

EOIN McMahon finished fifth in last Friday’s 1.40m Table A at the four-star show in Münster, Germany. McMahon rode Ludger Beerbaum Stables GmbH and Anneliese Maucher’s nine-year-old My Kiwi to a clear round in 68.96 seconds, while Sweden’s Angelica Augustsson Zanotelli won the class aboard Fasole Du Seigneur.
