BALLYWALTER STABLES’ homebred gelding Enzo BW (Emerald van’t Ruytershof x Cardento), ridden by Daren Hopkins, was named four-year-old champion in the O’Reilly Hyland-sponsored event on Sunday morning.
Judges Barry O’Connor and Lt Tom Freyne awarded the pair a score of 140 to head proceedings in the 24-rider class.
Second place went to Ivor Broderick’s Belgian-bred stallion Cartier VDL (Carrera VDL x Corland) and Vincent Byrne with a score of 139.
Molly Hughes Bravo’s home-bred HHS Barcelona (Emerald Van’t Ruytershof x OBOS Quality 004) was guided into third place (136) by Maria Vozone.
Fourth also went to Hopkins and his second mount owned and bred by Co Wexford’s Ballywalters Stables, Champagne BW (Chin Chin x Caretino) on 135.
Steven Smith’s Dutch-bred Otto (Gerardus x Harley VDL) was ridden into fifth with 122 points by Lucy Morgan, while Leah Stack and Austin Broderick’s Penelope 31 (Mylord Carthago x Diamant de Semilly), bred by Sean and Ronan Judge, took sixth on 119.
