MANY congratulations to event rider Lucca Stubington who recently passed her Pony Club A Test, the highest award of The Pony Club, and received her much-valued certificate in the post on Tuesday.

The 24-year-old, who is a member of the East Antrim Branch in Area 17 (Northern Ireland), passed the horsemanship section of the Test during the summer which meant she could progress to the riding phase.

That took place at the Talland School of Equitation in Gloucestershire last Wednesday week when Stubington was not just the sole representative of Area 17 but was also the only candidate from the island of Ireland as the Irish Pony Club decided against running any senior Tests this year.

This final stage of the Test involved lungeing a horse, followed by a discussion on training a young horse. Lucca then had to jump three horses outdoors before riding three on the flat in the indoor school.

As the Irish Pony Club decided against running any senior Tests, the highest-level Test which took place was B and that was at Area level.
