IRELAND was well represented in the placings for the featured $80,000 Lugano Diamonds four-star 1.50m jump-off class at Fort Worth, Texas, USA last Thursday. Out of only eight clear first rounds, Cork’s Shane Sweetnam secured the top spot with RR Combella, while Galway's Andrew Bourns rode Sea Topblue (ISH) into third place. This 12-year-old Irish Sport Horse gelding was bred in Co Clare by James and John Meade.
Offaly's Darragh Kenny finished in fourth place with California Pie – this pair having won the $40,000 1.45m two phase class last Wednesday at the same venue and also taking sixth place with VDL Cartello.
In Saturday’s $250,000 Longines FEI World Cup qualifier, Sweetnam and RR Combella placed fourth, followed by Darragh Kenny and VDL Cartello in sixth place. The class was won by Skylar Wireman (USA) on Tornado.
