Name: Robbie Sheehan
Age: 14
School: Third year in St Kieran’s College in Kilkenny.
Base: All ponies and horses are kept in the family yard in Cuffesgrange. I help look after them with my mum and dad and my sister Isobel. We are very lucky to have them just five strides from the back door.
Trainer: Ger O’Neill from Castlefield Sport Horses trains me and I have had a lot of help and advice from him over the last few years. He helped find my horse Fubalia at the end of 2023 and I have had a great year with her in 2024.
Success: I have been very lucky with my ponies over the years, having both He’s A Touch of Magic and Ravara Mohawk in 128cm and Bay Times in 138cm and all jumping in the main ring in Dublin. This year, I had Leiter Ben from Ger and Ali O’Neill in 138cm in Dublin, as Ava had already qualified her other pony.
My time in COH has been great. I won the Spring Tour and Premier Leagues with Ahare Olympic Flemmencio, as well as many other classes, most recently, the COH class in Sentower recently.
Fubalia has to be my favourite horse to date. I jumped on all the Children’s Nation Cups this year, including the European Championships, where along with my teammates, we won in Compiegne, Hagen and achieved a podium finish in Lier.
Memorial win in 2024: My favourite Nations Cup was in Hagen this year. We had to jump-off against the Swiss for the win, the excitement was unbelievable.
2024 was a great year and couldn’t have been done without support from my family, Ger and Ali at Castlefield and James Kernan for giving me the opportunities on the COH teams.
