THERE was a good turn out for the Aloga Auction five and six-year-old Championship at Bannow and Rathangan, which was sponsored by the Allen family. In total 66 went to post with 17 delivering double clears.
Taking the win was Waterford’s Paul Beecher with Brogagh Darcy when they came home in a time of 36.50 seocnds. Owned by Paul’s wife Seryna Van Kuelen, the six-year-old mare is by Dakar and out of the Warrenstown WE 3-sired Brocka Cruising Lucy. The combination claimed fourth place in the HSI Studbook Series qualifier at National Balmoral. They also took the win in this series at Cork Summer Show.
Daren Hopkins and the Ballywalter Stables-owned Elite della Caccia followed closely behind, clocking 37.70. The six-year-old mare is by Elvis ter Putte out of the Cardento-sired Cardentina Della Caccia.
Accounting for third place was Nicholas Connors and Jump the Gun, clear in 38.35. Owned and bred by Ann Connors, the five-year-old gelding is by I’m Special De Muze out of the Master Imp-sired Just Jump.
Waterford’s Paddy O’Donnell also featured in this line-up taking fourth with Castleconnell Candy Man, clear in 38.57. Owned by Alberta Capital Limited Conway, the six-year-old was bred by Greg Clohessy and is out of Sligo Candy Boy and out of the Mermus R-sired Castleconnell Lucky Lady. This combination took eight place in the RDS horse qualifiers at The Meadows Equestrian.
Little separated the next placing as Kildare’s Nicola FitzGibbon partnered One Day Maybe to a clear in 38.74. Owned by Langara Ventures and bred by Patrick Hogan, the five-year-old mare is by Bentley Van De Heffinck out of the Kannan-sired Kannan Queen.
Completing the top six was Patrick Byrne aboard his own Belline Castle Onr Candy, when they crossed the line in 39.66. Bred by Noel Ruane, the five-year-old gelding is by Sligo Candy Boy out of Castle Roller Coaster.
