CAMRYN Clarke made it one for the home side at Cavan Equestrian Centre, when he partnered Conto De Reve to the win in Saturday’s €2,000 1.35m two-phase Grand Prix.
A second-round time of 28.45 ensured the top spot for Clarke from the large field of 23 double clears in a starting line out of 87 combinations.
Boleybawn Cayman was guided into the runner-up spot by Shane Goggins in 28.54. Owned by Jack Goaley and bred by Ronan Rothwell, the 12-year-old gelding is by Cassidee out of Boleybawn Riverto by Ard VDL Douglas.
Third went to Madeline Roberts Allen riding her own mare Sue De Rialfo Z (Coupe De Coeur x Caletto III) in 30.67. The Dutch-bred Hobalo (Bubalu VDL x Ukato), ridden and owned by John McEntee, took fourth place in 31.44, while Sean Monaghan and his own seven-year-old gelding Tiberio Della Caccia were fifth in 31.95.
Shane Goggins completed the line up with his second mount Neil Egan’s home-bred mare, the eight-year-old Cloonbarry Kannalilly (Kannan x Cassini Il).
1.20m championship
HTS Redrock was ridden to the win in Saturday’s highly competitive 1.20m championship worth €2,000 by John Floody.
The eight-year-old is owned and was bred by Brian Kieran. He is by HTS Blackrock out of Ballybunion Aldatus, by Aldatus Z.
The pair crossed the finish in a time of 24.72, to prove fastest of the massive field of 66 double clears from the 155 starters. John Carey’s home-bred Kan Cruise (Kannan x Cruising) was ridden into the runner-up spot by Lee Carey in 25.80. Annie Courtney-Cadam and her mother Linda’s six-year-old LCC Dunard Lady Dominator (Dominator 2000 Z x Captain Clover), bred by Colm Cuffe, took third place in 27.42.
April McCrea rode her own Princess Premier (Hold Up Premier x Ard VDL Douglas), bred by John Rooney, into fourth in 27.92.
The six-year-old Carrick Quidams Flake (Carrick Quidam De Revel x Carrick Diamond Lad), bred by Barbara and Aishling Finnegan, was ridden into fifth by Louis Mellier, while Mark Cleary and anther six-year-old, Michael Kelleher’s Martello Chapella (Celtic Hero B Z x Indoctro), bred by John Kerr, took sixth.
