GURTERA Venture MF was named the five-year-old DAFM Studbook Show jumping Series winner at the final at Tattersalls July Show last Sunday.

Owned by Tomas Ryan and ridden by his son Darragh, the gelding is by Newmarket Venture, out of Gurtera Cara Donn by Elvis Ter Putte and was bred by Jim and Anne Bradley.

Points earned at Tipperary, The Meadows, Barnadown and Balmoral, plus a sixth place at the final during a consistent season for the youngster, saw him take the winner’s sash.

The final of the seven-round series saw 25 line out on Sunday. A total of 13 combinations managed a first-round clear to progress to the decider over the Tom Holden-designed track.

Vincent Byrne proved fastest of these, taking the top spot in a time of 31.57 seconds aboard Maddie Brennan and Rachel Moxham’s home-bred mare Belle Mai (Luidam x Furistos Trump).

Gillian Beale King and Lawrence Patterson’s Belgian-bred mare Cornet’s Fox Z (Cornet Obolensky x Fighting Fit) took the runner-up spot in 33.92.

Keith Ennis’ Rosconnell Tango (Tyson x Goodluck VDL), bred by Mairead Lacey, was ridden into third place by Leah Stack in 34.51.

Vincent Byrne and his second mount, his own William Greene-bred gelding, Edentrillick Special Edition (I’m Special De Muze x Numero Uno) finished fourth.

Eamonn Walsh’s Galwaybay Winningmood (Winningmood Van De Arenber x Mermus R), bred by Justin Burke and ridden by Tholm Keane, took fifth.

Darragh Ryan and Gurtera Venture MF completed the line up in sixth.
