IN the five-year-old division of the Horse Sport Ireland Autumn Development Series, 19 combinations took on the 1.10m course where amateur rider (AA) Louise Craig took the win.

Riding her own Cherry Wine, she was fastest of eight double clears in 33.15 seconds. Bred in Co Sligo by Michael Doherty, the mare is by Setter out of the Cruising-sired Roadstown Cruise.

Paraic Kelly came closest to catching Craig when he crossed the line with the Denis Noone-owned Corgary Good Luck in 37.49. Bred by his owner, the gelding is by Goodluck VDL and out of the Captain Clover-sired Corgary Captain’s Daughter.

Paul Beecher finished third with CBI Loughnatousa Khaleesi when he clocked 37.63. Bred by Aidan Carroll, the mare is by Carrera VDL and out of the Womanizer-sired CBI Land of Hope.

Junior rider Tadhg McKiernan answered all the questions with Castlelawn Sibon in 37.73 for eventual fourth. Bred by Damien McInerney, the mare is by Sibon W out of the Ricardo Z-sired Ryan’s Pet.

Shane Goggins played it safe with CSF Olympic Jewel and collected fifth place when he kept all the poles in place in 39.75. Bred by Brian Connolly, the mare is by Mylord Carthago and out of the Clover Hill-sired Olympic Clover.

Young rider Stephen Bolas slotted into sixth place when he partnered the Niall McGarry-owned Innisfree Beach Babe to a clear in 40.37.

Bred by Dominic Vallely, the mare is by Beach Ball and out of the Ard Vdl Douglas-sired Carnagh.
