WARRINGTON Equestrian’s Show Jumping League came to an exciting finish last Saturday with all pony and horse classes going down to the wire.

Starting with the ponies, in the popular 60cm division, the league title was claimed by a thrilled Tommy Moloney and his pony McKay, while in the Newcomers 70cm ranks, the league winner was Gillian Hoban with Mr Jingles.

In the 70cm class, Saoirse O’Neill and Noble Sparkle took the final round, clear in 30.04. Just over a second behind was Eva Tynan and Paddington Pal in 30.42. Despite not taking the final win, Eva had done enough to win the overall league. Third place was filled by Lucy Jolly and Tullibards Silver Princess, clear in 31.50.

O’Neill and Noble Sparkle then secured their second win of the day, leading the victory lap in the 80cm, double clear in 29.61. Lucy Jolly and Tullibards Silver Princess improved on their performance, taking second with a clear in 31.57. RDS Champion Isobel Sheehan took third with Eastend Reggie, clear in 33.5. A series of consistent results saw Hilary Brannigan and Tullowcussane Morning Jewel take the league title.

In the 90cm, Robbie Sheehan filled the top two places. He delivered his best result with Flash Dance, clear in 26.41. Alice Moloney filled the next two slots, taking third with Suzie Of Skyhill, clear in 27.31 and fourth with Is Fearr An Star, clear in 27.69. Third place was enough to secure the title for Moloney and Suzie Of Skyhill.

Leading the victory lap in the one metre was Isobel Hourigan and Star Spangled Banner, clear in 24.66. Isobel Sheehan also added to her haul as she took second with Hes A Touch Of Magic 25.37, ahead of Saoirse O’Neill and Millfield Papoose, clear in 25.52. A sixth-place finish for Alice Moloney and Is Fearr An Star was enough for the resident rider to secure her second title.

The winners of the final round of the 80cm was Hugo Segrave with Barravelley Lil who galloped home, clear in 30.07. Over a second behind were Ella Mullins and Dromalga Billy III, clear in 31.32, whereas taking third place and with it the league title, were Caoimhe Treacy and Knockainy Cassie, clear in 32.98.

Kellie Fogarty and Billy Two Shoes won the 90cm, when they were the only combination to remain within the 30-second barrier, in 28.18. Almost two seconds behind were Hugo Segrave and Chrissy’s Friend in 30.06, ahead of Kayleigh Fitzpatrick and Playboys Global Explosion, who were clear in 30.92. It was a great day for Caoimhe Treacy as she secured her second title with Knockainy Cassie.

1m class

Claiming victory in the one metre was Kellie Fogarty on Billy Two Shoes, clear in 24.58. Fogarty’s closest rival were Trevor Gahan and Quintuplicate, who also kept all the poles in place but in 26.82. Gahan may have had to settle for second place, but a series of good results with Quintuplicate saw him take the league. Slotting into third were Heather Byrne and Cuffesgrange Boomerang, clear in 27.37.

Timmy Brennan didn’t hang around with Latoons Full Back in the 1.10m and delivered the only clear, in 29.80, to secure victory and the title. Taking the runner-up spot was Chloe Hughes Kennedy on Sparkling Boomastasia, fastest of the four faulters in 25.68, ahead of Heather Byrne and Cuffesgrange Boomerang, who had four faults in 34.32.

Winner of 80cm final round and the league was Aimee Kearney with George, clear in 30.03, while Ella Greene and Seaview Jane took second in 34.95. Third place belonged to Hannah Pagan and Sally Ho, clear in 37.51.

Ella Greene and Seaview Jane won the 90cm when clear in 33.09. A runner-up finish for Isabelle O’Callaghan and George, clear in 33.41, saw them secure the title, while in third was Sarah Flynn with Super Martin Boy, clear in 34.26.

Mosie Murphy and Trickey Stephen D, left nothing to chance in the 1m when they delivered a clear in 33. 60 to secure victory. Claire Forde and KBL Milkyway, clear in 34.28, were second ahead of Emily Moloney and Cruisings Miss Daisy, clear in 36.33. Kate O’Neill and Disco Stuwon the league title.

A familiar face in the winner’s enclosure, Jess Widger added to her record as she won the 1.10m with Gortnalea Dun, clear in 26.67. Fractions behind were Tom O’Shea and Dun Well Dora, clear in 26.75. Emily Moloney and Carrigoir Mandy were back in the ribbons taking third and the title, clear in 29. 61.

Debut 1.20 win

Local rider Chloe Hughes Kennedy wasted no time with RTS Tommy Dunn and a clear in 29.55, saw her take the final round in the 1.20m – her first win at this level. Emily Moloney was back in the ribbons taking second place and the title with Carrigoir Mandy, clear in 32.60. Slotting into third was Katie Power and Ghost Rider, clear in 39.45.

Horse classes

Ciara Walsh and Arthur wonthe 80cm when going clear in 34.61. Linda Grace and Kilcross Apollo won the league after securing second place when they went clear in 37.93.

Sorcha Hennessy and Crehelp Charm took the victory in the 90cm division, clear in 31.90, while Anne Phelan and Meadow Flight, slotted into second, clear in 34.57. Third place was filled by Ciara Walshe and Ben, clear in 35.33. A fourth place finish for Joe Lennon and Mockas Dream, saw them take the title.

Little divided the placings in the 1m, with Katy Russell and Arendsoog B, taking the win, clear in 29.01 Russell was chased home by Ciara Walsh and Innocent Voltaire, clear in 29.15. Taking third and with it the title, were Pamela Brennan and Alfons, clear in 30.10.

Leading the victory lap in the 1.10m was Ciara Walsh and Innocent Voltaire, clear in 26.38. Back in the ribbons was Katy Russell and Arendsoog B, clear in 26.89, while in third was Emily Moloney and GVS Goodwins Queen, clear in 31. 02. Winner of the league was Niamh Walsh and Amaretto Flight.

Waterford international rider Paddy O’Donnell won the 1.20m with Lucy Penny when he came home with nothing to add in 27.86. Eddie Moloney opted for a more careful approach with Damma Kannan Supreme and he delivered a clear in 31.14 for second. Slotting into third was John Greene and Flexamarenca in 33.98.
