JOHN Floody dominated the 1.35m division of the Mervue Equine Leinster Tour at the popular Flavours of Fingal show in Co Dublin on Sunday. As in previous rounds, there was plenty of support for all three divisions.
It was a good outing for Floody as he took first and second place in the 1.35m class. He delivered the winning round aboard Brian Kieran’s HTS Blackrock, clear in 38.34. Not content with the win, he posted another clear with Donevan Erkindale in 39.31 for second place.
Oisin Aylward was fractions behind with Barry O’Connor’s Cosimo Il Primo in 40.24 seconds for third and, with this result, took the leading young rider prize. Accounting for eventual fourth was Edward Jnr Doyle with Cruise Mor, owned by Peadar Byrne, when clear in 41.05.
Fastest of the four-faulters (38.90) and slotting into fifth were Matt Garrigan and Carressa. Paul Carberry added to his weekend haul when he slotted into sixth with Brandonview First Edition after collecting eight faults against the clock. Decal McEvoy took leading pro-am prize.
Victory in the 1.20m division went to Olivia Roulston and Philip Rosbotham’s Avalent when they delivered a clear round in 26.25 seconds. Paul Carberry featured again when taking second with Brandonview First Edition, clear in 26.87.
Slotting into third was Orla Cassidy with Bridgemans Olympic Star, clear in 28.11. Fourth place belonged to Declan McEvoy and Annsfort Broadway (0/0 28.58). Olivia Roulston returned to take another share of the prize fund when she delivered a clear with Wienenn III in 28.77 for fifth. Sixth place belonged to Ellen Murphy and Cidam K, who also kept the poles in place in 28.94.
Taking the win in the 1.10m and the leading pro-am prize was Sara Gorman with Take a Gamble (0/028.13). A clear from Brian Cassidy and Looks Easy in 28.91 saw him take second, ahead of Meabh Byrne and Freepark Flyer (0/0 29.23).
Slotting into fourth place was Orla Cassidy and Slaneyside Aldatus Flight (0/0 30.61), while in fifth were Charlotte Quinn and Unique, who also maintained a clean sheet in 30.83. Completing the top-six line-up were Michael Keaveney and Pot Art (0/0 31.15).
