WINNER of the 1.25m Allenkey Fittings Table A One Round Speed at Emerald Equestrian Centre last Sunday was Sven Hadley, when he partnered the six-year-old Maximum Numero Too HSH to a clear in 57.74 seconds. Hadley made his trip from Galway worthwhile, as he also took sixth place with Louise Carroll’s Champagne Vh Bergerhof Z, when he put in another clear in a slower time of 61.72.
Taking the runner-up spot was Dermott Lennon aboard the Stacey Watling-owned seven-year-old Amazing Alf Z, when clear in 58.10. A clear in 58.17 for junior rider Kate McGovern saw them take third, ahead of fellow junior rider Lauren Murphy and the eight-year-old Cruiceraths Antonio in 60.91. Fifth place belonged to Lauren Adams and the eight-year-old Quina DW, clear in 61.50.
Hadley on fire
On Saturday, 29 lined-out to contest the 1.30m Glenpatrick Horseboxes class and Hadley struck again, taking first and second place. Hadley took the win when he partnered the seven-year-old Make It Easy HSH to a clear in 57.30 seconds.
He was over six seconds behind with the stallion Phenomene Bleu VDM in 63.47 to take the runner-up spot. Dean Rogan and the six-year-old Silvermines Cornet Cruise filled third place, when clear in 64.16, while in fourth was Grace McHugh and Cruising With Alice, clear in 65 seconds.
Accounting for fifth place was junior rider Anna White and SBH Diamond In The Rough, when they came home with nothing to add in 66.47, ahead of fellow junior rider Matthew Conlon and Dik Star De La Chenee, clear in 69.59.
The 1.20m one round speed class on Saturday saw 83 combinations go to post. Taking the win was Robin Carey when he delivered a clear in 58.21 aboard Luicruz. Sven Hadley filled the next four of the top six placings. He delivered his best result with Make It Easy HSH crossing the line in a time of 58.50 for second.
He accounted for third place with Elastique van de Koekoek, clear in 58.53 and then fourth with Uidam, clear in 58.96. Slotting into fifth place was Annabel Shields and Carte D’Or Sdw Z, clear in 60.58, while Hadley took sixth with HSH Harper Du Seigneur (63.44).
Overall, it was a good weekend for Hadley, as he also took the runner-up spot in the 1.10m Castlebridge-sponsored class aboard Elastique van de Koekoek, behind Steven Holland and Kovali K.
Win for Crowe
Winner of Sunday’s 1.10m, sponsored by TUE and Monaghan Show jumping, was Hallie Crowe and CSF Alfie, when clear in 27.25. Lorraine Younge [AA] occupied the next two placings, taking second with Belfield Flight (27.47) and third with Little Miss Russel (29.97).
Danni Jennings and Super Star took fourth place (30.09), while in fifth was Eoghan Murphy and Luv U Forever (30.19). Junior rider Catherine O’Connor slotted into sixth when she piloted Cassido to a clear in 30.99.
Amateur Grand Prix
A total of 17 combinations battled it out in the Amateur Grand Prix, which was sponsored by Sandstorm and Ladychapel Stores. This was a competitive class, with the top six riders all coming home within the 37-second mark. Taking the win was Sean Kennedy (AA) and Ba Ba Chino, when they were fastest of eight double clears in 28.23.
A clear in 30.42 for AA rider Brian Cassidy and Looks Easy saw them take the runner-up spot. Third place was filled by Suzann McLoughlin [A] and Amber Ferro, when they stopped the clock in 33.17. Slotting into fourth was Olwyn Alexander [AA] and Faline, in a time of 33.52, while in fifth was Joseph Moore (A) and Master Reve (33.94). Completing the top six was Samantha Doyle (A) and Billy Ash (36.71).
