SEAMUS Hennessy won the 1.30m summer series qualifier at the Midleton Show at Ballindenisk, Co Cork, last Sunday.

Riding his father Lorcan’s King Louis AE (Locarno 62 x Baloubet du Rouet). the young rider posted a second round time of 33.28 seconds to secure the top-spot.

Neil Egan’s eight-year-old Cloonbarry Kannan King (Kannan x Cassini 11), ridden by Tholm Keane, earned the runner-up spot when they had a double clear and broke the finish beams in 38.89.

Sophie Mullane, riding another eight-year-old, her own mare Diamond Dreamer (Prescotts Diamond x Wizard King) took third place as the fastest four-faulter in 39.14.

Hennessy took fourth place with his other mount Ballynoe Clinton Jack (Clinton Jack x Ars Vivendi), while fifth place went to Janice Guinnane riding Killossery Kruisit (Loughehoe Guy x Cruising).

Townend win

Amateur rider Josephine Townend won the 1.10m two-phase summer series riding Lucky Strike (R Lucky Strike x Montyn Pass) crossing the finish line in a time of 31.29 in the 25-strong class.

Emma Walsh and her own Lux Like Diamonds (Lux Z x Diamond Serpent) were runners-up in 31.61.

Junior Tamara Perry and Hilton DC (Canturo x Kashmir Van Schuttershof) took third in 32.47, while Alex Butler riding Ringfort Ruby’s Cruise (Ringfort Cruise x Latano) were fourth.

Fifth went to David Splaine riding Christopher Bell’s five-year-old Sunny Boy Max Striker (KEC Maximum Joe x Doon Striker) in 38.03, while junior Maeve Cotter partnered Cloonturk Picasso to a double clear in 39.09 to complete the top-six.
