THE Mervue Equine Leinster Tour continued at Adamstown Show last Saturday, with good numbers being recorded.
However, in the 1.35m section, just 14 lined out and it was local rider Patrick Hickey, who took the win aboard William Hickey’s seven-year-old Dresden Z.
They were fastest of the clears in the five-way jump-off in a time of 39.70. Bred by Sarah Willeman, this gelding is by Dominator 2000 Z out of the Lux Z mare Labelle. This was the second outing for this combination.
The only other clear came courtesy of Jack Ryan aboard Seamus Drea’s seven-year-old, Cornascriebe Emerald in a time of 40.16. Ryan also took third place with the seven-year-old Mondavi, when fastest of the four-faulters in a time of 39.42. Ciaran Moran also proved out of luck with Margaret Fennell’s seven-year-old, Greenhall Mullord, carrying four faults in a time of 42.81.
Patrick Hickey took another place in the line-up when he finished on four faults with the seven-year-old, Replay V/D Rollenbeek. Jack Ryan also slotted into sixth place with the Northlawn Farm-owned Ehllo D Argouges, clear in the first round in 79.53.

Winner of the 1.20m division was David Lawler, when he partnered Jm Penelope to a double clear in 35.32. Over two seconds slower and taking second was Brendan Murphy and the six-year-old HSC Rennee, clear in 37.45. Zoe Mehigan kept all the poles in place with Balinagore Quantum (7yo) in a time of 38.33.
Brendan Murphy returned to take fourth with Gortfree Lakeside Lad, clear in 39.12, ahead of Jack Ryan and the six-year-old Kilnamac Cody in a time of 39.36. Completing the top six was junior rider Cian Byrne and Papin De Kalvarie, clear in 42.94.

Amateur rider Deirdre Doyle led the victory lap in the 1.10m division, when she delivered a double clear with Corland’s Clipper in a time of 31.46. Junior rider Cian Byrne added to his winnings, taking second place with China Man, clear in 32.04. Third place was filled by amateur rider Hannah McNiven (AA) and Hey You, clear in 32.23, ahead of amateur rider Ciara Kelly (AA) and Annestown Clover Concorde, clear in 33.07.
A clear from amateur rider Leonie Dunne (A) and Cavalino 26 in 35.25 saw them take fifth, while in sixth was Paul Sarsfield and Drumgoole Lass, clear in 36.80.
