DAY two of the finals in Castle Irvine Necarne saw riders battle it out for their regions and, as expected, each class went down to the wire. In the end, the Ulster Region claimed the Interprovincial All Ireland title on 337 points while the Leinster team took second place on 237 points, followed by Munster on 189 points and Connaught on 172 points.
In the SJI Leinster Region Under 10 Final. Ulster rider Juliana Nelson had been in flying form the day before with a series of wins and added to her tally a win with Cumbak Kid, clear in 23.23. Winners of the SJI Ulster Region 128 90cm Final was Ulster’s Cliodhna McEvoy and Tynnan Tuttle Pip who kept all the poles in place in 20.98.
In the Connaught Region 128cm 1m Final, victory again belonged to Ulster as Elizabeth McCracken and Uquam d’Emery PFS galloped home with nothing to add in 26 seconds. Ulster also came out on top in the SJI Munster Region 148 1.10m Final, as Lucy Morton and Ricamore Sport claimed the honours, clear in 24.90.
Wins for Hargaden
Leinster riders fought back to dominate the SJI Ulster Region 148cm 90cm Final, claiming five of the top six spots. Taking the win when clear in 27.12 were Kildare’s Jamie Hargaden and Coppenagh Blitz.
Stephen Gibbons added to his impressive record as he took the win in the Walter Reape 148cm 1.20m Final. Riding Dexter Leam Prancer, he delivered the winning clear in 25.85.
Leading the victory lap in the Mullingar Horse & Pony SalesCOH/Junior 1.10m Final was Jamie Hargaden again, this time riding High Five, fastest of four double clears in 31.01.
In the Hive Insurance Services Starfinder 148 six/seven-year-olds, just one double clear was delivered in the seven-way jump-off and that came from Conrad Sweeney riding the seven-year old OBS Good To Go (46.54 secs). Anna White and the six-year-old Tankardstown Dreamer clocked 41.34, but four faults put them in second. Also proving the time was beatable when clocking 45.11 was Emily Moloney with Ballyerk Dun and Dusted (6yo), a pole down saw the combination slot into third.
