Cazabon Sullivan
IRISH junior rider Alana Cazabon Sullivan (17) won the FEI junior team test class at the CDIJ show in Biarritz, France on Friday morning. The Galway native scored 67.523% with David Patrick’s 12-year-old KWPN gelding Zazou for first place. France’s Paul Lautier and Rossini were second on a score of 66.622% with Belgian rider Laura De Graeve (Sandro’s Diamond) scoring 66.261% for third.Cazabon Sullivan also placed fifth with Aramis on a completion score of 61.577%.
Ard Ginger Pop
THE Irish-bred Ard Ginger Pop has won with her new owner, American Alison Robitaille. The seven-year-old mare won the $10,000 Youngster Bowl at the Split Rock Jumping Tour in Kentucky.
Horseware donates
HORSEWARE Ireland’s Tom MacGuinness recently visited the ISPCA Equine Rescue Centre in Mallow, Co Cork to see how the company’s donations of rugs have been used in the care of rescued horses, ponies and donkeys.
MacGuinness said: “Through programmes such as our Rambo Trade In program, we have been able to make many hundreds of rugs available to horses in need. Horseware is pleased to support the ISPCA, we are delighted to celebrate World Animal Welfare week, and look forward to working with ISPCA for many years to come.”
Margaret Widger
MARGARET Widger, nee Fogarty, of Kilheffernan, Clonmel, Co Tipperary, passed away suddenly earlier this week. Predeceased by her husband Johnny, she is survived by her daughters Mary, Margaret, Anne and Joan, sisters Helen, Mary, Joan and Pauline, sons-in-law Denis and Graham, granddaughter Annabel, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Reposing at home on Friday evening, the removal will take place this morning (Saturday) to Gambonsfield Church, Kilsheelan for Requiem Mass on arrival at 12 noon, with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.
