HORSE Sport Ireland’s stallion inspections take place next Wednesday and Thursday, March 22nd and 23rd, at Cavan Equestrian Centre.
This is the 14th year of central stallion selections and 41 stallions, a slight decrease on last year’s figure (43), are entered over two days.
This year’s batch includes 14 sport horses, 22 Irish Draughts, three thoroughbreds and two pony stallions.
Breed type entries are on a par with recent years, the most notable exception being in the thoroughbred category as there were no thoroughbred stallions presented last year.
Inspections begin at 8am next Wednesday morning and continue from 9am the following day.
Pony (Red Star Optimus and Tyrellspass Prince Charming) and thoroughbred (Globe Theatre, Mambo Nights and Sir Lando) entries are scheduled for Wednesday while the Irish Draught and sport horse candidates are spread over both days.
This year’s Irish Draught entries are: Ballinglen Blue Boy, Baltydaniel Purple Ben, Baltydaniel White Heather, Cappa Foxford Knight, Carraigstud Callum, Clerhaun Diamond Lad, Clogheen Life of Reilly, Clogheen Master, Cloncastle Ambassador, Edenagor Star,
Espresso Vision, Glenheste Gold, Greenhall Supersonic, Hollyrock Grey Hero, Killererin King, Kilmurray Hero, Longwood White Pearl, Ludden Skywalker, Monard Young Constable, Prince Shenandoah, Ringrove Paddys Hero and WRS Sun Rise.
Sport horse stallion candidates include: Ard Rock Star, Carrabeg The Full Irish, Casago II, Chalypso, Coolnorran Libarado, Desert Storm Z, Feridann De Kergane, Jengisk Del Colle,
MHS Always, One For Me E.E, Peroni, Sandro van de Berghoeve, Sligo Cavalier Candy and Trendy Caruso Heartbreaker.
Inspection timetables and breeding details of the 2023 entries are posted on Horse Sport Ireland’s website and catalogues will be available at Cavan.
The site of Horse Sport Ireland central inspections since 2010, Cavan will also host its own Stallion Show and Equine Expo on the following Sunday (March 26th).
