Midleton show

AT Midleton show tomorrow (Sunday), the broodmare class has €1,000 prize money up for grabs along with a Cup for the winner, sponsored by Donal White and Coisdeel Bloodstock. The class is for mares in foal, mares with a foal at foot or potential broodmare three-year-old and upwards, not exceeding 148cms. Connemara Ponies are excluded. Ed Prosser will be judging this broodmare class and also the Welsh Pony classes.

Young Rider Academy

MATT Garrigan (19) and Michal G. Duffy (20) are among the 10 young riders accepted into the Young Rider Academy for 2017. From Co Dublin, Garrigan will take part in the full programme, which offers a long stay (six months) of training and boarding at a professional stable and includes qualified education in communication, business, economics, veterinary and legal practice connected to show jumping.

Duffy, from Co Mayo, is current head rider for Carl Hanley Sporthorses in Germany, and he will participate in the educational programme.
