THE Association of Irish Riding Clubs announced this week that Chris Carter had been elected to the Board of Directors, following the resignation of Dermot Brislane.
Early this summer due to personal reasons, Brislane, a member of the AIRC since 2001, stepped down from the Board, following 13 years of dedicated service. His contributions to the organisation were outstanding and he was a highly influential member. Following Brislane’s departure, Chris Carter was elected after a close contest with Dermot Kenny, the final decision coming down to just one vote. Carter has been a valued member of the association since 2006 and currently serves as chairperson of Tara Hill.
His name appears regularly in these pages as joint owner, and rider, of the well-known Irish Draught gelding Cloonan Hector, a winner on the flat and in performance classes, both within the Riding Club movement and further afield.
