THE two clones of the famous Irish Sport Horse stallion Cruising have begun their training with one of Ireland’s leading show jumpers and will be seen out on the show jumping circuit in the coming months, Mary McCann revealed to The Irish Field this week.
The five-year-old stallions, Cruising Arish and Cruising Encore, who are the first clones ever to stand in Ireland and had their first foals hit the ground in 2016, will jump “a little bit” this season, as well as keeping up their stud duties. While short videos of the pair jumping have been released on social media, the show jumping fraternity are eager to see the pair in action. “I am hoping for anyone that wants to see them that we will take them to a training show soon and make a good video. I suppose it will be April before they are properly out and about,” she said.
The clones were born in 2012 and reared at McCann’s Hartwell Stud in Co Kildare, before being revealed to the public by The Irish Field in February 2015, just five months after their sire had passed away.
