THE equestrian community was saddened recently to learn of the deaths of a number of people in the industry.

Limerick-born Denis Quinlan sadly passed away last Sunday. Based in Florida, USA, for many years, where he founded the home building company Tara Management, Denis was hugely influential in getting Nations Cup team jumping in Florida and a big supporter of youth riders. He will be missed by his wife Sandy, family and friends.

Jim McLoughlin from Co Down passed away on September 18th, peacefully at home following a short illness. He was surrounded by his loving family and will be sadly missed by his wife Millie, children Anya, Jamie and Gavin, and extended family and friends.

Dermott Lennon Senior from Banbridge in Co Down passed away on September 11th last. He was a loving husband to Kay, and father to Pat, Sinead, Dermott, Cathal, Fergal, John and the late Neil, and will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

On September 14th, sadly Mary Babington, mother of show jumper Kevin Babington, from Carrick-on-Suir in Co Tipperary passed away. She will be lovingly missed by her children Eamon, Seamús, Michéal, Maura O’Donovan, Tomás, Padraig, Siobhan O’Neill and Kevin, relatives and friends.
