THE busy CPBS Spring Weekend starts with three Spring Colt Inspections - Creagh (March 24th and 25th) and Clifden (March 26th) where the Society hopes to welcome everyone to a weekend of varied activity.
Online inspection entries close on Monday, March 14th (visit www.cpbs.ie.).
Following the 10am start for the inspections, a Breeders’ Workshop which is open to all, will take place at 2pm at the showgrounds where veterinarian Niamh Walch of Western Veterinary Practice will speak on preparing a mare for breeding ‘Healthy Mare Healthy Foal’, and there will be a practical demonstration ‘Presenting the Filly for Inspection’, both very useful pre-season topics.
Evening activities will see the launch of the Society’s 20th edition of An Capaillín 2022 at 7pm in the Station House, followed by the CPBS Hall of Fame Awards and the annual Bartley O’Sullivan Lecture. This year it will be delivered by former CPBS President Tom MacLochlainn.
On Sunday morning at 10am, young breeders between the ages of 18 to 25, are invited to a special workshop and this will be followed by the ever popular Stallion Parade. Anyone who wishes their stallion to participate in the parade should pre-enter by March 16th – apply on line or download the entry form.
The Society looks forward to welcoming everyone back to the showgrounds after the devastating floods of November 2020. The rings have now been repaired, the river bank re-armoured and the opportunity taken to put in a much needed extension to the sand arena.
