Wellington Nations Cup

MICHAEL Blake has named his team for the four-star FEI Nations Cup taking place tonight (Saturday) in Wellington, Florida. The team is David Blake with Claude, Cian O’Connor with Berlux Z, Shane Sweetnam with Namaste Van Het Eyckeveld and Max Wachman with Kilkenny (ISH).

The first round starts at 9.30pm Irish time, followed by a break and the second round at 12.30am. The class will be livestreamed on www.wellingtoninternational.com.

Dog pound owner fined

THE owner of a dog pound who allowed a euthanasia drug to be kept unlawfully on his premises which was then administered incorrectly to two dogs was fined €30,000, The Irish Times reported this week.

Dublin Circuit Criminal Court heard that David Stone (65), Loughlinstown, Ratoath, Co Meath had been running Ashton Dog Pound in Dublin since 1996 and had contracts with local councils including Dublin City, Fingal, South Dublin and Dún Laoghaire/Rathdown County Councils. He pleaded guilty to using a premises for supply of an animal remedy contrary to various European regulations, possession of an animal remedy designated “veterinary practitioner only”, and causing or permitting the administration of an animal remedy contrary to the same regulations, on July 24th, 2020.
