Star of the Month winners

CONGRATULATIONS to the Irish young rider eventing team who have been voted The Irish Field/Gain Equine Nutrition Star of the Month for September. Sue Shortt’s team of Jim Tyrell, Jennifer Kuehnle, Alannah Kelly and Brian Kuehnle won team silver at the FEI Eventing European Championships in September.

€12,500 raised for Tiggy’s Trust

THE Tiggy’s Trust fundraising raffle held at the Cavan Equestrian three-day Pony Championships last weekend was a huge success, raising €12,500 for the fund. The prizes were won by Anne Mitchen (Curragh Racecourse membership for two for the 2022 season); Klara Hallinan (family visit to Cian O’Connor Karlswood Stables); Fiona McGrath (yard visit to Jessica Harrington followed by lunch for six in Punchestown and judging best turned out); Gerard Thomson (one share in Exit Poll Omega Racing at Jessica Harrington Racing) and Maria Campbell (sketch by Dale Adams).

Charlotte Dujardin’s Gio sold

CHARLOTTE Dujardin announced the sale of her Olympic and European individual bronze medallist, Gio. The 10-year-old gelding Apache gelding has been sold to 16-year-old British rider Annabella Pidgley. Charlotte bought Pumpkin as a five-year-old, having spotted him while she was teaching a clinic in California. He won team and individual bronze in Tokyo this summer, as well as team silver and individual bronze at the 2021 European Championships.

Liverpool International cancelled

THE 2021/22 Voltaire Design Liverpool International Horse Show has been cancelled. The event was due to take place at the M&S Bank Arena, Liverpool from December 31st 2021 to January 3rd 2022, but had been called off due to concerns surrounding the Covid-19 pandemic.

Team Ireland show jumping team sixth in Spanish Nations Cup

TEAM Ireland finished sixth behind victors Britain in the three-star Spanish Nations Cup yesterday (Friday) at Vejer de la Frontera. Mikey Pender jumped a brilliant double clear on HHS Calais. He was joined on the chef d’equipe Michael Blake’s team by Anthony Condon (SFS Vincomte), Max Wachman (Berlux Z) and Commandant Geoff Curran (Glengarra Wood (ISH)).

Ireland finished on a final score of 14 faults in sixth place of the 20 teams that started, while Britain took the winners’ prize.
