Hospice cheque
THE presentation of cheque for €25,000 by members of the Tattersalls Ireland July Show committee to St Francis Hospice took place recently. Since this cheque was presented, a further €3,500 has been received for the Hospice making a total of €28,500 donated.
The 2023 Tattersalls Ireland Show will be held on July 18th-19th!
Gabbie Prescott Brooks
THE death occurred on Monday of Gabbie Prescott Brooks in the care of Sonas Nursing Home Carrick on Suir and formerly of Ballygowan, Piltown, Tipperary/Kilkenny. A popular photographer on the eventing circuit, Gabbie passed away after a short illness. Predeceased by her husband Trevor and brother Nigel, she will be sadly missed by her Irish Gaffney family; Rosemary, Ann Maria, Elizabeth, Peter and Thomas, nieces, nephews, relatives, friends, neighbours and all the staff at Sonas Nursing Home. May she rest in peace.
HSI Stallion Inspections
APPLICATIONS are open for Horse Sport Ireland’s stallion inspections which will take place at Cavan Equestrian Centre on Wednesday, March 22nd and Thursday, March 23rd. The closing date for this year’s Irish Sport Horse, Irish Draught and Irish Sport Pony inspections is Sunday, February 5th. See www.horsesportireland.ie for details.

Witnesses sought
GARDAI have appealed for witnesses following a single vehicle fatal road traffic collision in Co Monaghan on Saturday, January 7th 2023, around 9.20pm. The collision involved a car and a stray horse on the northbound lane of the N2 at Creevy near Carrickmacross.
The front seat car passenger, a man in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene The two other car occupants, both adult males, were assessed at the scene, but did not require hospital treatment. The horse died on impact.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to come forward. They are also appealing to those with camera footage (including dashcam) from the area at the time, to make it available to them. Scarlet Hunt Ball date
THE 2023 Scarlet Hunt Ball takes place on February 11th at Rathsallagh House. It is run in association with the Irish Masters of Foxhounds Association to support an all-Ireland fund for injured hunt staff.
