Dressage Ireland judges’ gala
BOOKINGS are now open for the Dressage Ireland Judges’ Gala 2024, themed ‘ethical judging’ and presented by former four-star international Christoph Hess, who has more than 30 years eventing and international dressage experience. The event will be held on Saturday, November 23rd, at Kildalton Agricultural College, Co Kilkenny and is open to everyone; riders, trainers, instructors and judges.
One rider taking part is Sarah Morton riding Pips Delight, a 13-year-old Traditional Irish Cob mare, bred as part of the thoroughbred industry foal fostering system. Bought as an unbroken three-year-old, she has trained up the grades, consistently competing well at Prelim, Novice and Elementary. She has been training and competing at Medium over the last year. Another rider is Jenny Heffernan, who partners Kai ‘De Keizer KN’, a gelding by Vivaldi, who was the 2022 Small Tour National Champion and in 2024 began competing Inter II and Grand Prix. Canbella Blue PS to Cian O’Connor
FOUR-time Irish Olympian Cian O’Connor continues to add new horses to his string at Karlswood Stables; the latest is the 10-year-old mare Canbella Blue PS, who has been produced to five-star Grand Prix level by Sweden’s Emma Emanuelsson. The pair were part of the winning Swedish team on home soil in the CSIO5* Nations Cup of Falsterbo this summer. Just last week, they placed third in the five-star Grand Prix in Oslo.
