Showing Show of Year date
THE Showing Show of the Year will celebrate its 10th anniversary on Saturday, June 17th at Mullingar Equestrian Centre, Co Westmeath.
There are fantastic prizes on offer with an €8,000 prize fund from Horse Sport Ireland. There is a prize fund of €2,000 for Champion Broodmare, and breeders’ prizes of €1,000 for Champion Working Hunter Mare and €1,000 for Champion Hunter Mare. A new addition this year is the Tattersalls Ireland/Treo Eile Showing Pathway Qualifier. There is a generous prize fund in the TIH-sponsored classes.

Stabling and hook-up can be booked online at Mullingar Equestrian Centre. Athlone Show is on June 18th for those wishing to make to make a weekend of it.
Clonshire Country Day
CLONSHIRE Country Day will take place on Sunday, June 4th from noon with fun for all the family, including a Dog Show and Country Sport activities. There will be a market village on site and all are most welcome (V94 HF80).
YES! qualifiers kicks off
THE first of this year’s Young Eventhorse Series (YES!) qualifiers takes place next Tuesday, June 6th, at Forth Mountain Stud, Barntown, Co Wexford, where 56 four-year-olds, 45 five-year-olds and 35 Junior/Young Rider event horses have been entered.
Britain’s Jane Tolley, who is among those judging the National Eventing Discovery Classes at Millstreet, will be assessing the ridden phase along with Marie Ryan.
The Irish Horse World’s eventing and sales correspondent Sally Parkyn is listed as judge for the jumping phase suitability and potential as is leading show horse producer/rider and racehorse trainer Rosemary Connors for the presentation phase.
Funding for these classes has been received from Horse Sport Ireland and the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine under the breeding grant for €16,000.
This money will be distributed in league format to the owner, breeder and rider. Additional sponsorship is provided by the Traditional Irish Horse Association and the thoroughbred rehoming/retraining charity Treo Eile while the Talbot Hotel Group Wexford is sponsoring the videographer at each qualifier.
On Saturday next, June 10th, Forth Mountain Stud will also be the venue for the first of this year’s Dublin Horse Show qualifiers for ridden Connemara ponies, Connemara performance hunters and performance Irish Draughts.
Points Award Programme introduced
SHOWING Ireland has introduced a Points Award Programme which commenced last Saturday at the Glandoran Island summer show and will run up to October 31st.
The classes which count towards the programme in this first season are those for four-year-old hunters, heavy, middle and lightweight hunters, small hunters, riding horses, cobs and amateur hunters.
Riders must become a member of Showing Ireland to compete for the award (€40 through itsplainsailing.com) and it will be their responsibility to record points for each animal. Mrs Marie Crosbie RIP
THE funeral Mass for the late Mrs
Marie Crosbie (neé Larrissey) of Killeen House, Kill, Co Kildare, and formerly The Grange, Lucan, Co Dublin, took place on Wednesday at the Church of the Holy Family, Rathcoole, Co Dublin, celebrated by Fr David Fleming, with burial aftewards in Saggart Cemetery. Predeceased by her husband John, Marie is survived by her children Ann Marie, James, and Sarah along with her adored grandsons Jack and Adam.
Deeply regretted by Brendan, son-in-law Gerry, and daughter-in-law Fawzia, extended family and friends. Tribute was paid by her family to the staff of Naas and Tallaght Hospitals and the wonderful team in Manor Home Health Care.
