GALWAY’s Tim MacDonagh and Hollypark Galloway go into the final round of the Gain Equine Nutrition/Alltech Ireland National Grand Prix at Tipperary Equestrian tomorrow (Sunday) with the title in hand.
MacDonagh will take home the winner’s prize of €3,000 while Hollypark Galloway’s owner Jackie Lee will take home the owner’s prize of €1,000.
Following their third-place finish at Barnadown, the combination are unbeatable after clocking up 48 points. The pair proved very consistent, recording points in eight of the rounds including a win on home soil in Galway in the third leg.
Bred by John McCann, Hollypark Galloway is a 11-year-old gelding by Castlelawn Galloway out of the Diamond Lad-sired Whitestown Diamond.
The battle for runner-up (worth €2,000) and third place (€1,000) is still very much up for grabs and will come down to the wire. Francis Connors and CSF James Kann Cruz are currently in second place on the leaderboard on 32 points, while in third is junior rider Francis Derwin with Deep Pockets on 30 points. Following closely behind are John Floody and Accidental Diamond on 28 points, while Jonathan Smyth and Mulvin Lights Out have clocked up 27 points. Young rider Emma McEntee and MHS New York are also in the running on 24 points.
The league’s overall winning breeder will take home €2,500 with €1,500 for the runner-up and €1,000 for overall third. There is also a prize for the overall leading young rider of the league.
