QUIET Easy (13) has been sold by Quainton Stud to the Norwegian Gjelsten family and will be ridden by Johan Sebastian Gulliksen.

Quiet Easy (Quidan’s Rubin x Zapateado), has previously been competed by many top riders, including Ben Maher, Chloe Aston, Angelica Augustsson and most recently, with great success, by Wexford’s Bertram Allen (21).

Allen and “Rory” began their partnership in 2015 when owner Emma Phillips saw him ride in the King George V Cup at Hickstead. She felt the pair were magical together and she was right. The pair went on to collect numerous wins with a most recent victory in the Global Champions League CSI5* at LGCT Mexico City.

Allen commented: “Quiet Easy has been a fantastic horse for me over the years, winning the fastest of speed classes right up to Grands Prix.

“I’ve been very lucky with him and I wish him and Johan the best of luck.”

Johan’s first show with Quiet Easy will be the CSI2* in Drammen this weekend.

RETIREMENT

Trevor Breen’s Adventure de Kannan 2014 Hickstead Derby winner will be officially retired at Hickstead later this summer. “Addy”, as he is fondly known as, had his right eye removed in 2013 and finished as runner-up in the famous class that year.

Adventure De Kannan suffered from an eye ulcer which caused the gradual decline of sight in one eye. According to Trevor: “When we took the eye out, it was like I rewound the clock about three or four years. He got cheeky again, he was like a new person.”

One year after that surgery, Addy and Breen went on to win the Hickstead by 0.02 seconds.

The one-eyed wonder horse has an incredible record at Hickstead, including winning the British Speed Derby in 2009 and the Eventing Grand Prix in 2012.

The now 17-year-old has returned to his owner Karen Swann and will enjoy his well-earned retirement in Co Tipperary.
