Grooms Prize
It’s been a week of presentation for the Derwin family after James Derwin received a special presentation at the Athlone Show launch for his phenomenal achievements on Irish pony teams with Rincoola Babog. His younger brother Jack then picked up the grooms prize after their cousin Francis won the Balmoral Grand Prix with Flexi K last Friday.
Elite stable tours up for grabs
THE Kilworth and Araglin Harriers Dog Show and Family Fun Day will be held on Sunday, June 2nd, in Araglin Community Field (Eircode P61 EC59). Terriers, Lurchers and Hound classes start at 12.30pm, pet classes start at 1.30pm. There will be a vintage display with all vintage vehicles welcome, as well as a slip and slide, bouncing castle, pets corner, craft stalls, ferrets, long puck and much more.
The raffle on the day will be in aid of Alison O’Grady and all funds raised will go towards Alison’s continued treatment and the purchase of equipment.
That evening, the Kilworth and Araglen Harriers fundraising auction will be held at The Swallow Inn, Araglen.
Items up for grabs include among many other super items: stable tour of Willie Mullins’ yard for four people and a €50 meal voucher for The Railway House, Carlow; stable tour in Shark Hanlon’s yard for four people and a €50 meal voucher for The Railway House, Carlow; stable tour for six people at Joseph O’Brien’s yard.

Ballivor Show ready to roll
Ballivor Horse Show is set to take place on June 8th-9th and the Royal County event has a range of classes in its schedule, including Pony Day with showing and show jumping classes on Saturday, June 8th. Sunday sees the show once gain host its prestigious Grand Prix, a family fun day and ever-popular dog show.

The following Sunday, June 16th, is the date for this year’s IDHBA Dublin branch annual show which will take place at the National Horse Sport Arena. Catalogued entries close on June 10th for the 12 in-hand broodmare, foal, youngstock and ridden Irish Draught classes, plus a ridden and working hunter TIH option.
