The 2014 Discover Ireland Dublin Horse Show takes place from August 6th-10th and all indications are that this year’s show is on course to blaze a real trail in terms of bumper crowd figures and trade/shopping alone.

The hospitality packages are almost sold out, while advance ticket sales are also well ahead for the show, which is ranked as one of the top three equestrian show events in the world.

In the last five years, visitor numbers to the Dublin Horse Show have grown by 18%.

“The positive increase in visitor numbers is also reflected in the demand by international and Irish companies for trade stands at the Show. Trade stands for 2014 have been allocated, but with demand much higher than availability, the RDS has put in place a waiting list for companies (over 30) and is working closely to accommodate them.

“Any trade stand holders who have submitted payment and have not yet been allocated a stand have been refunded in full,’’ an RDS spokesperson told The Irish Field.

Over 100,000 visitors are expected to visit next month’s 141st annual show, offering one of the world’s largest equestrian prize funds of over €940,000 over the five days.

With over 1,300 horses and ponies competing over the five days of action, the world’s top riders will contest the FEI Furusiyya Nations Cup; the Longines International Grand Prix and the Land Rover Puissance.

Other highlights include Thursday’s Ladies Day which includes top designer Paul Costelloe among the judges while one of America’s most acclaimed horsemen, Montana’s Buck Brannaman, teams up with veteran American show jumper Melanie Smith Taylor in twice-daily natural horsemanship and riding clinics at Simmonscourt.
