Riding Ulot, Quigley finished clear in 57.66 seconds, behind eventual winner Chloe Aston of Britain, Henrik Griese of Germany and Peter Charles of Britain.

The previous day, Niall Talbot and Wido had recorded a second place in a 54-horse field in the 1.40m two-phase class at the Spanish show. The Kildare rider finished clear in 51.29 behind the Mexican rider Santiago Lambre and Cargo De L’Obstination who came home in 48.89. Talbot and Wido also finished ninth in the 1.40m two-phase class on the Sunday.

Kevin Thornton, also competing at the Mediterranean Equestrian Tour, had better luck than his compatriot that day, beating 90 other riders to win the 1.30m class on Landado CH in a time of 59.86. He had already finished seventh with Galactico Z in another 1.30m speed class last Saturday.

Also on Saturday, Ivan Dalton took third place from 82 starters in the 1.30m speed class aboard Granturo and slotted into 10th spot in the 1.20m two-phase on Loon Illusion.

Gavin Harley and McVeigh finished in fourth place in the 1.40m two-phase competition last Friday. He finished clear in 30.65, behind the winning round by Henrik Griese and Caluna 18, who clocked in at 29.20.

The Irish had been busy in the young horse classes earlier in the week, with a second place for Roger McCrea and Care For and a third place for Anthony Condon and Valavivendi in the 1.30m six-year-old class on the Wednesday.

Condon also picked up a sixth place in the 1.20m five-year-old class on Arla, two places ahead of his other ride, Zira II. The Zangersheide mare featured again for Condon on Thursday, finishing sixth from a field of 37 in the 1.20m five-year-old class. Gavin Harley finished two places behind Condon in eighth, riding Vendetta Treize.

The gap between the two Irish riders was maintained in the following class, the 1.30m six-year-old class. Here, Condon again finished in sixth place, riding Valavivendi, while Harley finished eighth on Cap Diamond D’Hof Ten Bos.

Roger McCrea picked up two top-10 placings in the 1.40m seven-year-old class on the Wednesday. Riding Tulipe De Bauviere to fourth place in a field of 74 starters, he also slotted into seventh place on Sweet Cinnamon.

Meanwhile, Alex Duffy rode Idream into sixth place in the jump-off in the 1.40m seven-year-old class on the Thursday of the show.
