IT would be impossible to mention all of those in the world of equestrianism who died during the last year but one person whose death in early January was felt acutely among staff members and contributors of The Irish Field and Irish Horse World was that of Mary Davison.
Known by this writer from our days as members of the Ward Union Pony Club, Mary was involved in thoroughbreds and sport horses and was a much-valued supporter of St Paul’s Special School Riding for the Disabled Group. She loved all that was good in life which she embraced with passion.
Features galore!
STAFF writers in the Irish Horse World section of The Irish Field and a host of contributors did a top-class job of producing features during the most strictly enforced periods of the first lockdown when sport was at a standstill.
Breeding facts and figures, young horse producers, owners, riders young and older plus names from the past all received coverage. Even before Covid-19 struck, there were some excellent features in the paper but when, in January, we enjoyed reading about Lorli Higgins’s Brazilian adventure, little did we know that her holiday was the nearest the rest of us got to one all year!
