Lord Waterford RIP
THE death took place on Wednesday of the brilliant polo player and lifelong supporter of the sport, Lord Waterford, 8th Marquis, John Hubert de la Poer, at his Curraghmore House home, surrounded by his family.
His funeral service takes place today (Saturday) at Clonegam Church, Portlaw, Co Waterford, at 11am, followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.
Lord Waterford will be remember as being one of a core group, along with his cousin, the late Major Hugh Dawnay, that revived polo in Dublin’s Phoenix Park in the 1960s.
