THE West Clare horse community has been saddened by the sudden passing of Gerry Keane, Moveen, near Kilkee, last week. Gerry had a great love of horses and enjoyed attending many shows, often showing one of his own home-breds.

Gerry’s favourite horse was Moveen Ascalon, by the thoroughbred Ascalon out of Travellers Girl (by The Traveller), which he bred in 2018. As a yearling, Moveen Ascalon won five championships around Munster and Gerry also showed him at Dublin Horse Show that summer.

A great neighbour and friend to many, Gerry was always there to lend a helping hand to whoever needed it and is a considerable loss to his family, many friends and the whole community.

He will be sadly missed by his loving mother, Tess, sons, Fergal and Niall, and their mother, Mary, brothers, Michael, John and Conor, sisters, Ann and Carmel, and many relatives and friends.
