THE last leg of the Jumpinaction.net secondary schools jumping league got under way on an extremely cold wet Sunday morning with the novice individual class running first. It proved to be Ellen McGrath and Rusty’s day, going home with both the winners’ rug plus the league trophy. This was Rusty’s last interschools with Ellen as he is ready to move on now and teach someone else all he knows.

The runner-up was Robyn Murray from Dundalk Grammer with Drummin Diamond Lad. Robyn had been very consistent throughout and was just pipped for second place in the league by Lily Sullivan with CDS Curheen Freddie whose fith place on the day was good enough to squeak into the league runner-up spot. Julia White for Loreto Balbriggan rode Bonnie into third place while Molly Sharkey from Swords Community College rode Lady Strom to fourth. Emma Smyth from St Joseph’s Mercy Navan slotted into sixth.

Victory for Loreto on the Green

The Jumpinaction.net secondary school team competition saw three teams through to the jump-off namely Loreto Balbriggan 1, Mount Sackville green and Loreto St Stephen’s Green. Kirsty Green (Chicco) and Phoebe Horgan (Eddie) made sure that Loreto St Stephen’s Green took home the win on the day and also the €600, plus the trophy on offer for the league. Second place on the day was Mount Sackville green with Faye McEntaggart and Sasha Doherty jumping clear rounds. Unfortunately a pole down for Loreto Balbriggan left them in third place. The runner-up spot in the league went to the team from Colaiste De Lacy who went home €200 better off.

Hartford does it again

The 90/95cm Championship proved a repeat of the last competition where, once again, the speedy Ailbhe Hartford whizzed around with Rodger in a winning time of 28.54. Ailbhe attends Loreto School Balbriggan and her closest rival was Kirsty Greene from Loreto St Stephen’s Green who rode Chico over the line in 29.28. They were also the league winner and runner-up. Caitlin Woods rode Molly into third place while the Kings Hospital student Fia Penny Taylor took fourth spot while fifth and sixth were taken by Mark Ward and Abi Lawler.

The Breakaway Campers Primary schools novice individuals is perfect for those starting off in the interschools. There were nine who divided the line, representing a variety of schools. There some new faces and some familiar ones, namely Chloe Flynn (Rocky) from Scoil Mhuire Ballymore Eustace, Louisa Dalton (Aisforalfie) from Ballinabranna, Lauren Reynolds (Cotterstown Dun) from Lismullen, Isabelle Galligan (Hero) from St Gerard’s, Dunsany’s Daisy McMorrow (Bart), Nelly Keegan with Cloonbird from Powerscourt, Lismullen’s Zoe Farrell (Ballyskeagh Lady), Dahlia Durkan with Stonehaven Tweety from St Gerard’s and Lucie Minnock (Mylo) from St Seachnalls. There were joint league winners here with Isabelle Galligan and Lauren Reynolds taking home the rugs as winners of the league.

Dalton scores win

In the Breakaway Campers Open individual, riders still had their eye on that camper prize and really pushed for the points in this competitive class. The winner was Louisa Dalton on Archer and Freddie Greene with Shanny who took second place. Bart, ridden by Daisy McMorrow, slotted into third place. Taking fourth was Bibi Devereaux with Cushglora Charlamange from St Gerard’s. The final places went to Juliette Heather from St Andrew’s NS and St Gerard’s rider Ali Condren who took fifth and sixth respectively.

Alice Hartford took the league with Richie and won the four-night stay in a camper van, generously sponsored by Breakaway Campers. Second place in the league went to Freddie Greene with Shanny.

The Breakaway Campers Primary team competition saw five teams through to the jump-off. First in to jump for Lismullen/Scoil Cholmchille was Lauren Reynolds on Cotterstown Dun who posted a clear while team mate Zoe Farrell on Ballyskeagh Lady unfortunately had a pole down. St Gerard’s green were next in but both Emily Gleeson riding Kippagh Scooby Doo picked up four faults as did team mate Bibi Devereaux on Cushglora Charlamange, good enough for fith place. St Andrew’s green team picked up four faults when Niall Horgan and Harry Greene went to post for them leaving them in fourth place.

It was Alice Hartford and Emily White who took Corduff/Realt na Mara/Naul into the lead with a time of 45.59. The St Gerard’s unicorn team of Sophie Gleeson and Isabelle Galligan jumped clear to take second place, posting a slower time. The fastest faulter was Rolestown who finished with a single time fault to take sixth place. St Gerard’s went home very happy with their green team taking the league and their unicorn team taking the runner-up spot.
