THE second leg of the Autumn Pony Tour, sponsored by TRI Equestrian, made its way to the Meadows Equestrian Centre last weekend. Over 300 entries took to the arenas at the embankment road complex under glorious sunshine.

In the Overlander-sponsored main arena, the 138cms classes dominated the morning with Eunan Kelly taking first and second placings in a competitive 138 1.10m class. Kelly, onboard his parents Lurganmore Little Rocket, placed ahead of Future Memories.

The 148 classes then took to the arena for the afternoon, a competitive 148 1.20m class became the fitting finale for the day with Doreen Keys’ Victory Day II placing first under the saddle of Zoe Keys, with Brook Rafferty and Robert Kent’s Hiloa de yonat (F) settling into second place on this occasion.

In Arena 2, over 100 128cm entries were received ranging from 50cms up to 1m classes. It was a tussle for the top in the 128 1m class, as Alice Steele went head to head with Alicia Kernan. On the day, it was Steele’s for the winning when she crossed the finish line with under a second to spare with her mum’s Sparkling Miss Leglands.

Show jumping continues this weekend with the first leg of our TRI Interschools League for 2024, and then then next weekend (September 21st and 22nd) sees our annual Autumn Horse Championships take place.
