JAG Equestrian in Co Kildare played host to the fourth round of the HSI Development series on Wednesday, with 165 combinations battling it out over the three divisions.

The four-year-old class saw 46 combinations going to post and taking the win was Waterford’s Paul Burns with Bella Lake Sunrise when they delivered a clear in 70.12.

Owned by Burns and Karen O’Sullivan, the gelding was bred by O’Sullivan and is by Corfilio T out of the Clover Brigade-sired Rocklands Blue Brigade.

It was a well worthwhile trip for Galway’s Sven Hadley as he took second place with his own Maximum Numero Too when they kept all the poles in place in 72.05.

Bred by Eamon McArdle, the gelding is by Aganix Du Seigneur and out of Couple of Diamonds.

Marta Hughes Bravo claimed third place with the home-bred mare HHS Venice, clear in 74.60. By Emerald Van’t Ruytershof and out of HHS Fairy Fort, this was the mare’s first registered outing.

Linda Moloney slotted into fourth place when she partnered Michael Brennan’s home-bred MHS Jolene (Vigo D’Arsouilles x MHS Baby Blue) to a clear in 75.75. Less than a second behind in a time of 76.07 and taking fifth place was Kildare’s Alyssa O’Neill riding her own DS Candescent.

Bred by Liam Lynskey, the gelding is by Sligo Candy Boy out of the Cruising-sired Largan Lady Cruise.

Dublin amateur rider Clare Mulligan completed the top six when she partnered her own Winnie Le Rue to a clear in 76.59. Bred by Patrick Kennedy, the mare is by KEC Maximum Joe out of the Harlequin Du Carel-sired Its Just Easy.

Busy startlist

The five/six year-old division had the biggest entry, with 81 combinations going to post. Leading the victory lap was Richard Kerins on the Korena Byrne-owned River Jordan, clear in 30.30.

The five-year-old home-bred mare is by Avos Jordan Z and out of Miss Josie Jump. The combination took fourth place in the round at Tubberbride. Tholm Keane followed closely behind with Maurice Griffin’s five-year-old Miss Lakiha, in 31.47 for second.

Little Tyson

Julie O’Sullivan Gallagher took third place with her own Little Tyson, stopping the clock with nothing to add in 33.40. Little stood between the next placing as Eddie Moloney clock up more points with his mother Ann’s home-bred mare, Twain Flight, clear in 33.62.

Tholm Keane was back in the ribbons, taking fifth place with Diarmuid Hurley’s five-year-old Boherdeal Russel, clear in 36.16. Hannah Agnew slotted into sixth place with her own six-year-old MCS Leisester, when she also kept the poles in place in 36.47.

Winner of the round at Warrington, Robin Carey and the seven-year-old Luicruz emerged victorious in the seven/eight-year-olds when they came home clear in 26.18. Paddy O’Donnell also kept a clean sheet with Loes and Ger Klassen’s Kikedou (7yo) in 27.41 for second.

Cian Harrison slotted into third with Francis Derwin’s Florida Springs (8yo), clear in 27.44, ahead of Aidan Killeen and the seven-year-old Caquarista PS, clear in 27.50.

Resident rider Julieann Gaffney and the Aisling Byrne-owned Supreme Action (7yo) took fifth, clear in 28 seconds, while in sixth was Richard Kerins and Dermot Gormanly’s Marius CK (7yo), clear in 28.16.
