GORESBRIDGE Horse Sales has scheduled three point-to-point sales for 2025. They will take place on April 23rd, June 4th and December 3rd.
The Co Kilkenny auctioneer staged two successful point-to-point sales this year, one in April and one in November. The April Sale featured Epic West (€60,000), who won a Carlisle novide hurdle easily on his latest start for trainer Jamie Snowden.
Small Town Kid (€54,000) won a Newcastle bumper on his racecourse debut for trainer James Ewart last month. Cloonainra (€27,000) also won first time out for trainer John McConnell, landing a Sligo maiden hurdle in August, and Birmingham Alabama (€28,000) won a Wexford maiden hurdle in July for trainer Eamonn Delaney.
Ed Donohoe, managing director of Goresbridge Horse Sales, said: “The response to our inaugural sale confirmed what we’ve known for some time - there’s a hunger for a reliable, cost-effective platform for point-to-pointers right here in Ireland. The success of these events underlines the importance of providing our industry with an alternative platform.”
Looking ahead, he added: “This is about more than filling a gap - it’s about creating something lasting. 2024 was just the beginning. We’re working to grow the market, attract new participants and build a sales environment that benefits everyone involved. There’s no doubt that this is a long-term commitment, and we are excited to see where it takes us.”
The Goresbridge thoroughbred sales are boosted by the backing of Irish Thoroughbred Marketing’s Inward Buyer Programme.
