JIM Bolger’s Grade 1-placed novice hurdler Eastern Legend (Lot 34) is among 390 lots catalogued for the Goffs February Sale, which takes place on February 5th and 6th.

Rated 98 on the flat, the five-year-old son of Teofilo was last seen placing in the Future Champions Novice Hurdle at Leopardstown’s Christmas Festival, when he was beaten 13 and three quarter lengths by Romeo Coolio.

Last year’s sale was topped by Princess Vega, with Gerry Hogan going to €150,000 for the half-sister to Facile Vega. Weanlings by Havana Grey commanded the next two highest prices at €90,000 and €85,000, followed by a colt by No Risk At All that brought €75,000.

Next month’s sale begins with a selection flat and National Hunt two-year-olds, horses in training and stores, followed by the largest section comprised of weanlings. The two-day sale concludes with breeding stock.

Next month’s catalogue suggests that Havana Grey may provide some of the highlights once again, his weanlings including an own-sister to group-placed juvenile Magic Mild (Lot 102) and a colt out of Group 3 runner-up Mur Hiba (Lot 181).

Sioux Nation is also well-represented, with three weanlings out of blacktype mares (Lot 52, 70 and 258), as well as an own-sister to a stakes performer (Lot 79).

Norelands Stud’s Starspangledbanner filly is sure to prove popular, especially as a daughter of the multiple Grade 1-placed Martini Glass.

The Castlebridge Consignment’s draft includes a Camelot half-brother to triple Group 3 winner Shamida (Lot 239) and a No Nay Never half-brother to dual group winner Who’s Steph (Lot 159).

Space Blues may be considered a flat stallion, but he is responsible for Charel Park Stud’s half-brother to the multiple Grade 1 winner Appreciate It (Lot 230).

Other possible highlights of the National Hunt weanlings include a Harzand colt out a Grade 2 hurdler and a Goliath Du Berlais colt out of a blacktype Authorized mare (Lot 281).

Breeding stock from both disciplines are catalogued, including the stakes performer Black Magic Woman, offered in foal to Native Trail, and the blacktype Soldier Of Fortune mare Belle The Lioness (Lot 294).
