THE upturn in the weather should see plenty of good point-to-pointers in action across four meetings this weekend and the best of them are likely to be added to the catalogue for Cheltenham next Thursday (April 25th) from 1pm.

Champion handler Colin Bowe said: “I have 60 horses yet to run and I know a lot of other lads are in the same boat. I am way behind where I would normally be at this time of the year.

“If we get a nice finish to the season, can run these horses and get them sold, then we can reinvest in stores. If we can’t then it will have a knock-on effect for the store sales. At least the ground is still safe.”

The Tattersalls Cheltenham April Sale has already attracted 24 entries, including 11 winning and placed four-year-olds. Further entries will be accepted following this weekend’s racing.

This year’s Cheltenham Festival winner Chianti Classico is a graduate of the April Sale, as is American Mike, Ash Tree Meadow and Brewin’upastorm.

At the 2022 April Sale, Search For Glory, a Grade 3 winner this season, was sold by Fenloe House to Gordon Elliott for £200,000. The seven-year-old son of Fame And Glory is also a Grade 1 entrant at Punchestown.
