RICHARD Hannon will train the Starman filly who topped Wednesday's session at the Goffs Autumn Yearling Sale when bought by agent Ross Doyle for €50,000.

From the first crop of the Tally-Ho Stud sire, the filly is out of the Frankel mare Beloved who is a half-sister to Japanese Grade 1 winner Deep Brillante.

Doyle said: "She’s a very nice, racy filly. We’ve bought three or four Starmans already and we like what we see physically. It’s a strong pedigree on the dam’s side, and she’s out of a Frankel mare which might give a further boost. She will go into training with Richard Hannon."

Andy Oliver went to €44,000 for another of the day’s highlights in Staffordstown’s son of Lope De Vega whose half-brother is Group 3 placed and is out of a sister to French blacktype winners Shaman and Green Sweet. The trainer has enjoyed success before with Autumn Yearling purchases, including Paris Secret who won first time out before going on to graded success at Santa Anita last year.

Tally-Ho Stud paid €45,000 for Knockatrina House Stud’s Kodiac filly, the first offspring of her dam De Chancer (by The Last Lion) whose siblings include multiple stakes winners in Italy.

Norman Williamson’s Oak Tree Farm acquired a smart son of Starman from the family of Circus Maximus who was sold by Abban Farm for €40,000.

Tuesday's opening yearling session was headed by Derrinstown Stud’s Mohaather sister to listed winner Al Asifah out of a stakes-placed sister to classic winner Awtaad. She sold for €110,000 to Barry Lynch and Jack Davison Racing, on behalf of an Irish and US syndicate.

After two days of yearlings, the clearance rate is running at 77% and the average price paid has been €8,313. The median price is €5,000.

The sale concludes on Thursday and that session includes 27 supplementary entries to be offered as Lots 791 to 820. Among them are 13 yearlings eligible for the 2025 Goffs Two Million Series. Lot 800 is eligible for the Harry’s Half Million at York next year.
