THE Gavin Cromwell-trained The Other Mozzie is one of the star lots in the Tattersalls Online February Sale which takes place next Tuesday and Wednesday.
With the addition of seven wildcards, the 137 lots catalogued includes 76 horses in and out of training, 22 broodmares, 16 yearlings, eight two-year-olds, four stores, and breeding rights to Aclaim, Ardad, Harry Angel and Kameko.
The Gavin Cromwell-trained six-year-old won his latest start in a handicap chase at Naas on January 5th, his 11-length victory earning an IHRB rating of 138 over fences. The Other Mozzie is also a winner over hurdles and is likely to be given Cheltenham Festival entries by his trainer.
Another in-form offering is the Hugo Merienne-trained Never Risk, successful in last month’s Prix Rene Cramail worth €110,000. Ciaran Murphy’s Irish Grand National third Enjoy D’Allen is another late entry.
The 11-year-old is owned by J.P. McManus, as is Shajak, a winner over hurdles for trainer Gordon Elliott. The son of Zarak has also tasted success on the flat where he can boast a third-place finish in the Listed Vinnie Roe Stakes.
Breeding prospects
Fellow wildcard entry Lightning Force is out of listed winner and Group 3-placed Crying Lightening. Furthermore, the Zoustar three-year-old is a half-sister to Strawberry Lace, dam of Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf winner Unquestionable.
Highclere Stud offers the beautifully bred Speechcraft. The three-year-old filly by Lope De Vega is out of dual listed winner and Group 1 Cheveley Park Stakes fourth Now You’re Talking.
The broodmares include listed winner and blacktype producer Dark Orchid from Ballynure Park Stud. The Dansili mare is the dam of three-time listed winner and Group 2-placed Daramethos.
National Hunt breeders will be attracted to the trio of broodmares consigned by Alne Park Stud, including the listed-placed hurdler Aweeminit, who is a half-sister to Group 2 winning hurdler Caracci Apache. Other broodmares in the sale are offered in foal to Mutasaabeq, Perfect Power, Schiaparelli, Territories and Twilight Son.
The 16 yearlings catalogued represent sires such as Calyx, Iffraaj, Kool Kompany, Maxios and Ulysses, whilst the four stores in the sale consist of a duo by Conduit, and one each by Arizona and Maxios.
