GORDON Elliott and point-to-point handlers Mick Goff and Matthew Flynn O’Connor have made late entries for next Tuesday’s Goffs October Sale at Doncaster.

The original catalogue consisted of 73 horses-in-training, 33 yearlings, plus breeding and youngstock. Now another 18 horses have been added including two winners at last Saturday’s Toomebridge point-to-point, Peggy’s Rock (Goffs) and Caughtinyourtrance (Flynn O’Connor).

Last year this sale threw up the 2023 Brocklesby winner Doddie’s Impact, who was just a £6,000 yearling purchase.

The sale’s yearling section will see 14 lots eligible for the Great British Bonus (GBB) and will feature entries by sires including Ardad, Earthlight, Harry Angel, Invincible Army, Land Force, Mohaather, Oasis Dream and Sergei Prokofiev. The GBB scheme encouraged the breeding and ownership of British-bred flat and jumps fillies. Owners, breeders and connections of winning GBB-registered fillies can win up to £20,000 in bonuses per eligible race.

The session will also offer two lots which are eligible for Harry’s Half Million by Goffs, a £500,000 six-furlong race to be run at York next August which offers prize money down to 10th place.

The sale features mares in foal to Frontiersman, Golden Horn and Planteur as well as some well-bred NH youngstock featured below. British National Hunt breeder John Lightfoot will offer four entries as part of a dispersal under the Molland Ridge Stud banner.

The horses-in-training session includes entries from a variety of trainers including Alan King, Amy Murphy, Charlie Johnston, Charlie Longsdon, David O’Meara, David Pipe, Fergal O’Brien, Iain Jardine, Nicky Henderson, Rebecca Menzies, Richard Newland, Roger Fell and Warren Greatrex.

There are also some fillies with attractive pedigrees including Carouselle, a Dark Angel filly out of a half-sister to the Group 3 winner Dorcia and listed winner Kirkinola. Also for sale is Indian Dress, a Siyouni own sister to the listed-placed Ellerslie Lace and Baha Mar and out of a Sadler’s Wells half-sister to the Group 1 winner Turtle Bowl.

Tim Kent of Goffs UK said: “The October Sale offers buyers their last chance at securing a Donny yearling in 2023 and, with almost half the yearlings eligible for the Great British Bonus, buyers can purchase in the hopes of picking up their share of significant additional prize money on the track.

“We also catalogue some attractive young National Hunt stock with entries by Flemensfirth, Getaway, Jack Hobbs and Walk In The Park, so there is plenty of quality to capture the attention of buyers.”

Supplementary entries will be taken up to the time of the sale.
