Technician moves to Wexford stud

TECHNICIAN has relocated from Manton Park in Wiltshire to Gordon Doyle’s Knockmullen House Stud in New Ross, Co Wexford.

By Mastercraftsman, Technician won the Group 1 Prix Royal Oak in 2019 for trainer Martyn Meade and was unbeaten in three starts at Longchamp. He also won the Group 2 Prix Chaudenay and the Group 3 Geoffrey Freer Stakes at Newbury. The Chaudenay-Royal double was previously achieved by Turgeon.

He is out of a stakes-winning daughter of Sadler’s Wells, from the family of top stayer Crimson Tide and his pedigree traces back to the Aga Khan family of Derby winner Shahrastani.

Doyle said: “I am extremely grateful to Martyn Meade and the team at Manton Park for sending the horse to us.

“Technician was a top notch, classic-winning racehorse. He loved soft ground, an attribute that is so important in National Hunt racing.

“He is a lovely horse with a great temperament, really well balanced with size and scope and a great walk. He has some nice crops of yearling and foals in France to come on-stream, including a half sister to Henry de Bromhead’s Gin On Lime.”

Technician will stand alongside Sea The Stars’ Group 1-winning son Mekhtaal and Silas Marner, who is by Doctor Dino’s sire Muhtathir.
