FOLLOWING the addition of seven supplementary lots, 128 horses are due to be offered at the Goffs Horses In Training Sale on Tuesday, November 5th, marking a notable drop from 173 last year.
The catalogue features 10 from the Aga Khan Studs, including two horses rated 90 and above. Their consignment produced the two highest-priced lots at last year’s sale, at €100,000 and €62,000, while previous offerings included Group 2 Brisbane Cup victor Irish Sequel, bought by Ibrahim Al Malki for €27,000.
Melbourne Cup victor Twilight Payment is another graduate of the sale, though he remained in the same ownership after Kerr & Co Ltd signed form Jim Bolger’s offering at €200,000, his transfer to Joseph O’Brien and Lloyd Williams culminating through a private deal the following summer. The popular Saltonstall cost considerably less at €44,000, and rewarded new connections with eight wins, including twice in the valuable Colm Quinn Mile at the Galway Festival.
Among those expected to be popular next week are Eric McNamara’s recent maiden winner Future Cutlet, Michael O’Callaghan’s Naas maiden winner Do Si Do and Martin Hassett’s Curragh maiden runner-up Dmaniac.
One of the most accomplished entrants is Denis Hogan’s five-time winner Thecompanysergeant, who has placed in three graded contests and finished fourth to Spillane’s Tower in a Grade 1 at Fairyhouse. Another notable National Hunt offering is the Gavin Cromwell-trained The Dancing Tree, who won a Limerick bumper on rules debut.
A filly that may interest breeders is Sheila Lavery’s supplementary entry Pickersgill, an 80-rated daughter of Cornwallis Stakes heroine Ponty Acclaim, who was picked up for €14,000 at the Autumn Yearling Sale.
