THE Tattersalls Online May Sale on Thursday was topped by four-year-old Teofilo mare Hymn Book Too, who was purchased by The M & N Bloodstock Partnership for 105,000gns.

Consigned by Clare Manning’s Boherguy Stud, the four-year-old three-parts-sister to 2000 Guineas winner and Champion European two-year-old Dawn Approach was offered in foal to Darley’s multiple Group 1 winner Space Blues.

Trained by Jim Bolger, Hymn Book Too was a winner in April 2022 and placed on three occasions before being retired to stud.

Out of Hymn Of The Dawn, Hymn Book Too is also a three-parts sister to Group 2 winner Group 1-placed Herald The Dawn and is a half-sister to the dam of Group 3 Tattersalls Stakes winner Sanus Per Aquan making her a very attractive addition for The M and N Bloodstock Partnership.

Boherguy Stud’s Clare Manning was very impressed with the Tattersalls Online sales procedure and felt the minimal effort involved was a great incentive to use the platform again in the future:

“I found it all very easy and straight forward. It’s minimal cost, minimal effort. As long as you are happy to take some phone calls, do good photos and videos, that is all it really requires.

“While the sale was going on, I could still be on the farm, mucking out, doing vet work and a million other things during the breeding season whilst still being able to log on and check on how things were going. It was just really easy to do.

“For a horse of this calibre, it is something we will certainly be looking to use more going forward.”

The next highest priced lot was the six-time-winner Prince Imperial who was secured by Avon Racing for 35,000gns. Offered by Richard Hughes’ Weathercock House Stables on behalf of Highclere Thoroughbred Racing, the six-year-old Frankel gelding has also been in the placings on a further five occasions including twice over hurdles this year.

The sale also saw Roger Varian’s Carlburg Stables consigned Gastronomy realise 22,000gns when purchased by National Hunt trainer Philip Kirby.

Ventura Bloodstock were also active in the sale stretching to 16,000gns for George Boughey’s three-year-old More Than Ready filly Calluna.

The Tattersalls Online May Sale realised turnover of 257,400gns for the sale of 23 lots at an average of 11,191gns.

Over 150 bidders registered for the sale from across Britain, Ireland, France, Italy, Germany, Cyprus, New Zealand and from across the Gulf region.
