IT would seem that Ardad is picking up where he left off last year. Then his first crop of two-year-olds produced 23 winners, headed by the dual Group 1 star Perfect Power, Group 3 winner Eve Lodge and the Group 2-placed Vintage Clarets.

The son of Kodiac (Danehill), winner at two of the Group 2 Flying Childers Stakes and the Listed Windsor Castle Stakes at Royal Ascot, saw his fee rise to £12,500 at Overbury Stud this year on the back of last year’s success, and while he has far fewer juveniles to race for him in 2022 he is already off the mark with them.

Crispy Cat carried the Amo Racing colours to success at Cork and could be one to note when stepped up in class. Bought by Leon Carrick for 7,500gns as a foal, he was resold last year at the Tattersalls Ireland September Sale for £105,000, that sale being staged in Newmarket.

The second winner for his dam Mara Grey (Azamour), Crispy Cat is a half-brother to Constanzia (Dandy Man) who won and placed a few times at two and then, incredibly, sold for £2,000 to go and race in Sweden where she won again.

What will she be worth is Crispy Cat goes to Royal Ascot and wins?

Mara Grey has eight winning siblings, including the Group 3 Royal Ascot-placed juvenile Explosive Lady (Alfred Nobel), and their dam was a four-time stakes winner in the USA, My Girl Lisa (With Approval).
