FOR the 2022 breeding season Juddmonte will be utilising over 30 different stallions, with the home roster getting its usual strong support.

The book for the new champion sire Frankel (Galileo) includes the group and listed winners Alocasia (Kingman), a half-sister to Group 2 winner Set Piece (Dansili); Grade 1 winner Capla Temptress (Lope De Vega); Classical Times (Lawman), a half-sister to Newspaperofrecord (Lope De Vega); Environs (Dansili), a half-sister to Frankel’s Group 3 winning son Delaware; Grand Jete (Dansili); Soffia (Kyllachy); Starformer (Dynaformer), the dam of listed winner Flavius (War Front); and Group 1 winner Winsili (Dansili).

Frankel is also covering the proven producers Bird Flown (Oasis Dream), the dam of Group 1 winner Siskin (First Defence); Portodora (Kingmambo), dam of the aforementioned Alocasia and Set Piece; Ruscombe (Dansili), dam of Frankel’s listed winning daughter Petricor who is now in training with Bill Mott); and Scuffle (Daylami), the dam of classic winner Logician (Frankel).

Stellar season

Kingman (Invincible Spirit) had another stellar season in 2021 with Palace Pier, Schnell Meister and Domestic Spending winning six Group/Grade 1 races between them, and he will be represented by over 190 beautifully-bred juveniles this year.

His book of mares mirrors his standing as a leading sire and includes Group/Grade 1 winners Emulous (Dansili), Juliet Foxtrot (Dansili), Quadrilateral (Frankel) and Samba Inc (Include), as well as the dams of Group 2 winner Threat (Footstepsinthesand), Imaging (Oasis Dream), the aforementioned Quadrilateral and Sangarius (Kingman).

In addition, he will cover group/graded stakes winners Dandhu (Dandy Man), Gaining (American Post), Isabella Giles (Belardo), Lucky Kristale (Lucky Story) who is a half-sister to Love (Galileo), Nay Lady Nay (No Nay Never) who is a sister to Arizona, Pocket Square (Night Of Thunder) and Sun Maiden, a Frankel half-sister to Midday (Oasis Dream).

Expert Eye

This year will see the first runners for Expert Eye, whose dam is visiting Mehmas (Acclamation), and Juddmonte is continuing its strong support of the son of Acclamation (Royal Applause).

The mares going to him include the Group 2 winning-miler Modern Look (Zamindar), the dam of the Grade 3 winner and Grade 1 placed Grand Jete, listed winner Pavlosk (Arch), Showcasing’s blacktype sister Tendu and her winning Frankel filly Beheld.

Tendu is a daughter of Oasis Dream (Green Desert), the sire of the 2021 European Champion two-year-old Native Trail, and amongst that veteran’s book of mares is the Group 1 winner Announce, Group 3 winner Hot Snap (Pivotal), a half-sister to Oasis Dream’s outstanding daughter Midday, and the winning Frankel filly Wensleydale, whose dam is the group-winning sprinter Divine (Dark Angel).

Deep Breath

Bated Breath will be standing for a career-high £15,000 this season and his book of mares includes Photographic (Oasis Dream), the dam of Group 3 winner Shutter Speed (Dansili), as well as the listed winners Variable (Sea The Stars) and Zaminast (Zamindar), the young group-placed mare Midweek (Motivator), and Star Snap who is a Galileo daughter of the Group 3 winner Hot Snap.

Other homebred stallions being supported by Juddmonte include New Bay (Dubawi) who is covering the listed winner Heliac (Champs Elysees) amongst others; Showcasing whose mares include Group 1 winner African Rose (Observatory), the dam of Fair Eva (Frankel) and relative of Native Trail; Continental Drift (Smart Strike), a daughter of Intercontinental (Danehill) and dam of listed winner Masen (Kingman); and Deliberate (King’s Best), dam of Group/Grade 2 winners Headman and Projected, the latter by Showcasing.

Time Test (Dubawi) will cover Across The Floor (Oasis Dream), the dam of Irish Group 3 winner Acanella (Dansili).

Passage Of Time

Time Test’s dam, the Group 1 winner Passage Of Time (Dansili), is one of several mares visiting Dubawi (Dubai Millennium), along with the brilliant Enable (Nathaniel), her half-sister Entitle (Dansili) and their dam Concentric (Sadler’s Wells). Also heading to a mating with Dubawi are Frankel’s sister Chiasma; his Group 3 winning daughter Fount (out of multiple Grade 1 winner Ventura (Chester House) who herself visits Night Of Thunder (Dubawi)), his listed winner Mori, a daughter of Midday); and his Group 2 winning daughter Obligate, a granddaughter of the blue hen Hasili (Kahyasi).

Joyeuse (Oasis Dream), a half-sister to Frankel, will visit Camelot (Montjeu), while her daughter Jovial (Dubawi) will visit Wootton Bassett (Iffraaj), along with Enable’s winning half-sister Portrush (Frankel) and Group 1 winner Romantica (Galileo). Joyeuse’s other daughter Jubiloso (Shamardal) is visiting Sea The Stars (Cape Cross), along with Bated Breath’s Grade 1-winning daughter Viadera.

Visits Siyouni

Viadera’s dam Sacred Shield (Beat Hollow) is one of two Grade 1-producers visiting Siyouni (Pivotal), the other being Juliet Foxtrot’s dam Kilo Alpha (King’s Best). Siyouni’s Group 1-winning son St Mark’s Basilica will be covering the Group 1 winners Midday and Timepiece (Zamindar). Grade 1 winner Proviso (Dansili) will visit Lope De Vega (Shamardal), along with Group 3 winner Big Break (Dansili), the dam of listed winner Georgeville (Dawn Approach).

Matings which produced talented two-year-olds last year are being repeated, with Straight Answer’s dam Straight Thinking (Mizzen Mast) returning to Kodiac (Danehill), and Juncture’s dam Occurrence (Frankel) visiting Dark Angel (Acclamation) again.
